Ranjit, The Cotswolds: has a new-build four-bedroom holiday home that came with a heat pump
"I bought a holiday home in the Cotswolds that was designed to be very environmentally friendly. I didn’t know anything about heat pumps but I am conscious of the environment, so I was happy to come across something so sustainable."
"The home was built ten years ago and is very well-insulated, which makes a huge difference.
It’s very easy to use – you just have to learn how to use it well. If you suddenly feel cold in the house, there’s not a lot you can do - it can take around two to three hours for a room to warm up. Each room has an individual thermostat, and we have underfloor heating, so there are no radiators.
It’s a holiday home so we turn the system off when we’re not there. In peak winter, when the heating has been off, you have to turn it on 48 hours before you arrive. I got a Wi-Fi switch around five years ago so I can now turn it on remotely, but it requires a good Wi-Fi connection, which we don’t always have in the Cotswolds!”
